Access Databases – set a database password

 

Step 1:

 

  • Open the Access program.

  • Click on More

  • Find the file and click on Open.

  • Choose Open Exclusive (see figure 1).

The database is now ready for a password to be set. Think about a good password for the database that has been opened.

Step 2: Click on Database Tools. Choose ‘Encrypt with Password’

TO REMOVE THE PASSWORD IN AN ACCESS DATABASE

 

NB: The password will have to be removed before the database can be used for mail merge. Follow the steps below:

 

Step 1: Open the database again using Open Exclusive (see Step 1 on first page).

 

Step 2: Click on Database Tools tab. Click on Decrypt Database. Type the password again in the Unset Database Password box. Click on OK.
